OMG have you seen this new sewing book for cat lovers?
It's called Purr-fect Patchwork by Pamela Jane Morgan, which you can buy right from her website (signed even). It's by C&T/Stash Books, the very same company that I worked with on my Making Faces book!
I KNOW!!!
Look at this Blooming Curiosity quilt from the book:
You know me, I am not usually one for patterns, but I have to at least make the center medallion part, right? Well I started! That's right, I ACTUALLY SEWED. From measurements. Following instructions! I guess I can do it when I really want to.
AND I REALLY WANTED TO because:
Look I made my cat!
Blue Kitty is not impressed.
"AM I A JOKE TO YOU, MOMTHER?" - Blue Kitty, probably.
The background fabric looks bubblegum pink in some pics and orange in others but in reality it is salmony. Guess I went a little crazy with the saturation boost.
This was really fun to make!
Pieces cut out:
(also hey, that black fabric is one of my own from the Yummies line I did with Hoffman a few years ago!)
Units sewn:
And yes those wonky little half-square triangle units on the right are made from the cutoffs because i am a scavenger and i can't throw anything away.
I'll incorporate them somehow. This will probably become a pillow that differs from the medallion in the quilt by a fair amount, because that's how I use books! I might take bits and pieces of instruction/information and then do my own thing with it.
That's what's fun for me about buying craft/sewing books! And Purr-fect Patchwork is a great one for all the quilty/cat eye candy you could want. Like that cover quilt - so good.
Cat parts sewn together:
Next I'll make one of the flowers. Auditioning fabric is as far as I've gotten, but I enjoyed working on this!
Of course the colors I chose seemed familiar and then I realized it's because it looks similar to this giant Poppy Cats quilt I started laying out at the beginning of the pandemic. I'll have to revisit that.
What's better than cats and quilting. VERY LITTLE. Purr-fect Patchwork is inspiring me to get back to sewing!

I love your project. I love to save and get a 2nd project out of trimmings/leftovers. Place mat, mug rugs, miniature of the big project… uses for “leftovers” are endless. Thanks for sharing in the blog tour.

I love this! You and I are alike -I usually wing it instead of an actual pattern, but these I like! Thanks!
