388: Quilt Market, Tuesday

So I can't even believe the awesomeness of the B+B I found for my Minnapolis trip.

For example, this is the couch I am sprawled on while I write this:

See what I mean?

Now, the bedrooms aren't as decked out as this, but this place is a dream. I just took a million pictures which I'll spread out over the QM posts so you don't get overloaded.

Me and Unicorn flew out from Providence Tuesday morning (phone pic) :

Arrived at the b+b and since I hadn't slept much the night before, I napped/rested under the vintage chenille bedspread for a while.

Got up and had a lovely meetup with MaryOnLakePulaski, a blog reader.

After another couple hours of chenille resting, I decided to head out to Crafty Planet for Amy Butler's appearance.

This awesome little boutique fabric store (and yarn) is owned by Trish Hoskins and her sweetie pie of a husband Matt who promised to come to my talk on Sunday and smile at me reassuringly. (Remember, you promised!

Trish is co-author (with Rebecca Yaker) of One-Yard Wonders:

Look at this cute open sign:

While I was milling around the shop as Amy met with fans, a woman shyly came up to me and asked, "Are you Melissa from Yummy Goods?"

I hugged her. That was the first time I was recognized in public--- although it doesn't really count because she knew from reading the blog that I would be in Minneapolis and I was in context at a fabric store after all, but still, right?

Krista brought me over to meet her friend Elizabeth and we hung out while they were waiting in line for Amy. They were super sweet and funny and adorable and if I lived here I would totally make them be my friends. I mean, look at  these girls! ( Don't look at me because I look freaky and tired.)

And since they didn't yet have my book in stock at Crafty Planet, the girls asked me to sign the back of Amy's book for them! So cute! (Hi girls! Thanks for hanging out with me!)

I also spent some time drooling over fabric:

Damn you, Kokka! Why must you torture me so?

If I could I would have followed these instructions:

and filled up one of these awesome baskets with expensive imported fabric.

Sigh. Basket envy.

Also, there is a great perfectly curated vintage/secondhand shop next door to Crafty Planet called Rewind, which you should totally check out if you are in the area.

I know, no Amy pictures. Sorry! Maybe at the show.

I shared a cab back with Amy and her assistant Mallory, which was fun because we had a few moments to catch up before the craziness ensues. They had a look at my book, which of course you know Amy wrote the foreword for. Yes, I will keep reminding you and why not, right?

When I got back to the b+b, I walked down to this awesome natural foods market called The Wedge and bought some yummy vittles for dinner. Salad, marinated tofu and a chocolate cupcake with raspberry buttercream frosting. Aw, yeah.

Walked up these stairs to get to my room:

and chilled out for the rest of the night.

Woke up and had breakfast in this room:

omg, breakfast. Really good coffee, fresh pineapple and strawberries. Home-baked goodies and, get this.... are you ready?

Banana and nutella paninis.

Now off to the convention center to meet up with my new fabric company peeps!

More soon. Wish you were here with me!
