254: sugar scrap

Oh, you guys.

Thank you for being so wonderful, as you always are.

Your comments make me smile and laugh, feel comforted and valued.

Thank you. You are awesome.

One person commented that they feel like they are a part of my life by reading my blog and I really love that. I feel like you are, too. I know it's just a blog and everything, but it feels more like I have a bunch of pen pals that I write to all at once. And it's the interaction with you - the comments, emails back and forth - that makes this so much fun. You are my community and I thank you so much for taking the time to read what I have to say, whether I am being silly and lighthearted or introspective and heavy-hearted.

Oh, also,  thank you for not pissing me off.

:o)

(On the blog anyways.)

Remember how I was all freaking out about my project fore the tv thing? Well then along came Yummy Goods: The Shop and , uh, I kinda blew it off  put it on the back burner.

Yesterday I set up an impromptu sewing studio in the back of the shop and worked on some stuff all day.

Today, thank god, I have the fabulous Jess (that crafty starlet) from Juicy Bits coming over to help.  The actual project part isn't that much work, it just makes me nervous about the show so I keep putting it off.  Yeah, I kinda just want someone to come over and hold my hand. Know what I mean?

I have been working on a Sugar Snap Scrappy Quilt to decorate the set with. And that I can show you because it's not the project itself, yay!

It got much scrappier after I took this shot. I'll take more today for you, ok?

Oh, look at this:

My pal Karen from Tumbleweeds (my local quilt shop) made me one of her awesome pincushions out of Sugar Snap!

It is just the coolest thing ever to see someone else make something with my fabric! I can't wait for it to be out in stores so I can see what you do with it. You are going to blow my mind!

Oh, hey, are you extra-special-coo-coo like me? I can't throw any of this stuff away:

NEVER toss anything! *S*.....I keep even the thread clippings as I sew. I'm always using this stuff for something; sometimes a big handful of skinny trimming pieces makes a great bow on a package. You just never know.

Color me coo-coo too cause I can't throw away the little odds and ends pieces either. Even the selvage edges I keep in a big mason jar. :)

Have fun sewing in your store/studio today. Wish I could come!

Yep I'm coo-coo - I am finishing a baby quilt with the corners of a snowball quilt. So many tiny bits - Have fun sewing with Jess!

I can't ever throw away scraps. I always think I can make something out of even the tiniest scrap. I can imagine it would be even harder to part with scraps of MY own fabric!
I don't blame you a bit!

I guess I'm not coo-coo cuz I absolutely love throwing things away! I used to keep every scrap but now I only keep ones over a certain size.
I like the idea/thought that a blog is like having pen pals...I think I'll try that!

i save all my scraps too - they are starting to take over! The quilt is looking fabulous! And I know exactly how you feel about the blog thing - I feel like all the people who leave comments on my blog are old friends and we can just chat away about everything - I love it!

That pincushion is super cool. Are you going to sell stuff like that in your shop? I'm hoping you are going to sell some of your photography. I'm planning to purchase one when I am INVITED to the GRAND OPENING PARTY.

Yeah,
I keep the little stuff too....all of it I am afraid...that's why I make those little ATC's and other mini's....cause I just can't stand to see them go to waste.
I bet you are having a great time sewing with your fabric..

I have had a bloggin' rut...I am trying to do too much...been off a week I think now...gotta post soon! Thanks for your consistency...helps me to get my butt in gear!
BEAUTIFUL fabrics! I, too save everything! I have small scraps and even smaller scraps in a big tub and I have a box full of zippers that I've pulled off clothing I got rid of and also another box full of selvedge edges.I can't bring myself to throw any of it away.

It is fun being pen-pal friends, isn't it? I love the updates you give us on what's going on in your life, and I love getting email replies from you! I also LOVE that pincushion. What fabulous friends you have. Wish I could come over and help you get the shop ready.

Love your blog! It's funny you mention keeping all your scraps - just this morning I was looking at a pile of my own scraps trying to convince myself that I could throw them away. Instead I put them right back into a bag for use with some possible future project!

Okay, I know the topic at hand is your beautiful fabric, which of course, I can't wait to get my hands on! But all I can think about is how much I love love love the depth of field on your photographs! Sorry. I know, that's totally random.

Wishing you all success with the shop and Sugar Snap. With your energy they will be a huge success! As for fabric scraps, my family makes fun of me for the bookcase full of organized (I use that word very, very loosely) ziploc bags full of bits and pieces. I will use them. Really, I will. I have plans. Big plans. Someday. Really. Right after I work on that cute new project I found....

Again, congratulations!
